Why Not A Garden?
Presently working part time as a produce clerk, I find with hands on experience. I have to wear gloves handling produce. Most of all our produce is sprayed with something, one way or another. My hands rash up when handling produce with a burning sensation. I checked with other stores produce departments and have seen other clerks wearing gloves as well. For example bananas are sprayed with a ripening agent, apples are gassed. We all digest these chemicals, which I believe leads to bad health. We also need to know that organic produce does have a certain percentage of chemicals. For example if your land is free of a certain percentage of chemicals, such as chemical fertilizers, and pesticides for four years and you go according to the rules of your agriculture department "congratulations". I realise we have air pollutants, which work their way into our soils. But one should really question how much of the products are organic?
Is the name for gaining wealth? This is several reasons I encourage you to grow your own produce.
We have the technology with automatic sprinklers, we have barrier guard to stop weeds. We have education on growing anything. Not having time should not exist in our society. Everything is made to make life easier.
Why Spring works For Me
Why Spring works For Me
Spring is around the corner and are you ready? I love the beautiful colors, of the plants, flowers and nature in general. Time to visit family, friends and forgotten places. I live in British Columbia, and growing season is zoned in at 5, which is good for growing various types of herbs, flowers, and vegetables. The grass is already growing fresh green under last years growth. I have seen lots of deer, mountain sheep, and migrating geese. Here in Oliver the winter becomes over cast 90% of the time, with snow. Winter here can become very depressing. I tire easy. I find staying busy with working hobbies and staying indoors, along with my part time job helps. I live for gardening and working with our little vericomposting farm. It is very therapeutic.
